06/20/11 - This month’s Special Roast is from the country with the second largest coffee crop in the world and probably the most famous spokesperson, Colombia. I enjoy Colombian coffees in the summer because they tend to have a lighter body, perfect for those warmer mornings. This month’s coffee is from the Finca Tolima, located in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the highest tropical coast mountain range in the world. Grown at an elevation between 3,500 - 5,500 feet, this shade-grown coffee is bold and rich. The cup has deep chocolate notes, a notable spiciness, and just a hint of nuttiness. Sourced from a farm that is certified Rainforest Alliance and (of course) Certified Organic.
